Chris Kelly Deserves Better Than This

Dear World,

I will acknowledge that there is sadness surrounding the death of rapper Chris Kelly of the rap duo Kris Kross for a number of reasons.  He was young -- only 34 years old.  He was reportedly found unconscious and alone.  He had just reunited with his partner Chris Smith and performed at the So So Def reunion concert a few months ago and was said to have been working on more music.  And just death in general is a sad situation.

But yesterday, as the news traveled to random social media sights, all I could do was just shake my head and sigh. World, you've GOT to do better.

ASAP Rocky The Make-Up Artist??

Dear A$AP Rocky,

First of all, you're gonna have to forgive me.  You're apart of a conglomerate I call "rappity rappers." Basically, if I walk down the street and toss a rock in the air, chances are it's gonna land on someone who has some kind of rap song on the radio, YouTube, Spotify, SOMETHING. There's too many to keep up with so I just Sandman sweep you guys together. Because you sound similar anyway. So.

But I just read a lil article you did regarding beauty. What you do for your own hair and skin. Which is cool. Cuz you don't have all sorts of teardrops/stars/dolphins/unicorns tattooed all over your face so that's a nice change. And it appears your skin is smooth so you aren't just running your face along a brick wall like a real G. You're actually moisturizing your situation. I appreciate you.

Budget Box Office: The Factory

Dear World,

Hey y'all! Gonna start a new series on the blog called Budget Box Office. What is this exactly?  It's a quick recommendation on movies to watch on a quiet evening at home.  These are gonna be movies that you can either find currently playing on Netflix or pick up at your local Redbox...Budget Box Office, get it?

First up, we have The Factory, starring John Cusack, Jennifer Carpenter and Dallas Roberts.  John Cusack plays a detective who's trying to solve a case he's been following for years regarding missing girls.  If you're a fan of The Walking Dead, you might be happy to see Dallas Roberts in a different role than his TWD role as Milton Mamet.  But if you love thrillers and twist endings, you should enjoy this!  Check out the trailer below:

The Walking Dead Reflects White Supremacy??? Whatchu Talkin' Bout Willis???

Dear World,

So I got wind of an article on a site referred to as Madame Nawl by blogger Luuvie (and it's SUCH an accurate phrase that I don't even called it by it's actual name) that talks about AMC's The Walking Dead.  Now I happen to LOVE that show. I haven't read the comics because I don't want to spoil the experience for myself -- I'll go back and read them after the series finally ends. Which I hope isn't for a long, long time. So when I saw the article titled The Walking Dead Is Full Of White Supremacy & Magical Negros, I just had to click the link.  Then I read the article. And I've come to the conclusion that the author barely paid attention during season 3, let alone saw ANY of the other seasons (which she claims to have done). Let's take this apart, shall we?  Please note: If you haven't watched the entire series yet and want to avoid getting spoilers, you might wanna come back and read this when you do.  You've been warned...

The Every Day Man's Guide To Turning Up

Dear World,

As with a lot of things nowadays, a new slang term has come upon us via some rap (at least I think. I don't listen to the radio so I would be in the dark about these things if not for social media. Thanks guys. I hate you.) song. And as such, I've seen the term being used in a number of ways, with certain ones CLEARLY in the wrong way.  So I've decided to type up a little set of guidelines. Just my way to give back to the community.

Let's call this "The Every Day Man's Guide To Turnt: When And When Not To Show Out".

So let's go to Urban Dictionary to see what "turn (or turnt) up" means:
(v) getting wild or excessively crazy. Typically used in the context of a party.
OK. So there we go. A pretty clear and concise definition of how to use this.  So how can you use this, Every Man?  Well, here are some acceptable instances:
